China Custom Halbach Array Supplier

Prepare an RFQ and verify the engineering, material, and export details before ordering a custom Halbach array.

Custom Array Sourcing Checker

Select your project requirements to build a supplier-ready quote checklist. The result updates locally as you choose options.

A grade or temperature label is not an export-control classification.

Your quote preparation checklist

Based on linear array, NdFeB (exact grade to be confirmed), and drawing-defined tolerances.

  1. 1Attach a drawing or CAD file with overall dimensions, segment count, magnetization directions, and assembly gaps.
  2. 2State order quantity, target production date, operating conditions, and the end-use country.
  3. 3Ask the exporter to confirm the exact material composition, current control-list classification, license responsibility, and any required documents.
  4. 4For a linear array, include active length, pole pitch, working gap, and installation constraints.
  5. 5Confirm the exact NdFeB grade, temperature limit, and whether the composition contains any controlled elements.
  6. 6Tie each drawing tolerance to a fit, assembly, or field requirement and ask the supplier to flag process-capability risks.

This checklist does not classify exports or estimate a delivery date. Confirm material status and schedule with the exporter against your drawing and destination.

Why Source Custom Arrays from China?

Supplier location alone does not establish lower landed cost, shorter lead time, or better quality. Compare quotes against the same drawing, material traceability, inspection scope, tooling, shipping terms, and export responsibilities.

Upstream rare-earth supply is concentrated, but that is not a supplier qualification.

Context

USGS estimated China produced 71% of the world’s mined rare earths in 2024. This is a mining share, not a share of finished NdFeB magnet production or capacity.

Solution

This upstream context can inform sourcing discussions, but it does not establish a factory’s magnet-making capacity, material availability, price, or export readiness.

Verification

Request the exact magnet grade, material certificate, lot traceability, current availability, and any approved alternate source for your order.

Export screening depends on the listed material, not a temperature-grade label alone.

Context

China MOFCOM and Customs Notice No. 18 lists specified items, including samarium-cobalt permanent magnets and NdFeB permanent magnets containing terbium or dysprosium. A May 2026 MOFCOM FAQ distinguishes these materials and simply processed components from more deeply processed products such as motors.

Solution

The FAQ describes some simple-processed magnets and related components as within scope and some further-integrated products as generally outside it. It does not classify every Halbach assembly; check the shipped configuration and current rules.

Verification

Ask the exporter to classify the exact shipped configuration, composition, and integration level under the current list; record license responsibility and required documents before agreeing a ship date.

Acceptance criteria should cover both the drawing and the assembled field.

Context

A dimensional or magnetization-angle tolerance does not, by itself, define how an assembled array’s field will be inspected.

Solution

Put the required dimensions, magnetization directions, operating point, field limits, and measurement setup in the drawing or inspection plan. Select limits for the application rather than copying a generic target.

Verification

Before production, agree on the instrument, probe position, mapping grid, calibration status, sample size, and report format; review a sample inspection record.

Manufacturing Risks & Tradeoffs

Avoid common pitfalls when outsourcing complex magnetic assemblies.

Tolerances without a functional target

Cost Risk

Impact: Tighter tolerances can add grinding, inspection, and scrap cost. The effect depends on geometry, process capability, and inspection method; there is no universal cost multiplier.

Mitigation: Tie each tolerance to a functional requirement, agree on the inspection method, and ask the supplier to identify dimensions that need a capability review.

Bonding and retention outside the tested envelope

Reliability Risk

Impact: Adhesive performance and rotor retention depend on the actual temperature, speed, substrate, environment, and load. An unvalidated bond or sleeve design can fail in service.

Mitigation: Specify continuous and peak conditions, validate adhesive data for the substrate and environment, and verify mechanical retention at the required speed and temperature.

Leaving export classification until shipment

Supply Chain Risk

Impact: If a listed material needs a license, unresolved classification or missing application documents can prevent release. The page cannot determine licensing or predict approval time.

Mitigation: Ask the exporter to check the current list and confirm required documents, license ownership, and timing before committing to a ship date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about partnering with a China-based Halbach array supplier.

Capabilities & Sourcing

What types of custom Halbach arrays do you supply?

We supply linear arrays for maglev and actuators, circular rotors for BLDC and axial-flux motors, and planar arrays for precision sensors and NMR applications.

What design support should I confirm before ordering?

Ask whether the supplier will review manufacturability or run magnetic simulation for your project. Confirm the input assumptions, deliverables, validation method, and whether engineering time is included in the quote.

What should I send for a useful first quote?

Send a drawing or CAD file, topology, material grade, quantity, operating conditions, magnetization directions, and required dimensional or field acceptance criteria. Mark unknowns so they can be resolved during DFM.

Lead Times & Quality

What is the typical lead time for a custom prototype?

There is no reliable standard lead time without a drawing and material review. Ask for a dated estimate that separates material sourcing, tooling, assembly, inspection, and any export-control steps.

How do you guarantee the magnetic field performance?

Agree on measurable field limits and an inspection plan before production. Ask for the instrument and probe setup, mapping locations, calibration status, sample size, and a sample report; no generic method guarantees performance for every design.

Can a completed Halbach array need an export license?

China’s April 2025 Notice No. 18 lists samarium-cobalt permanent magnets and NdFeB magnets containing terbium or dysprosium. A May 2026 MOFCOM FAQ says some simple-processed magnets and related components remain in scope while some deeply processed products, such as motors, are generally outside it. A temperature label alone cannot classify a Halbach assembly; ask the exporter to review the exact shipped configuration and current rules.
